The event was held in Tigoni, an area northwest of Nairobi known for its tea estates and colonial-era homes, and combined runway presentations with a Power 30 Awards ceremony, a Global Fashion Summit on Africa’s luxury economy, and the Noir Locale Market, a direct designer-to-consumer sales platform.
Noir Fashion Week runs across Paris, New York, South Africa and Kenya. It was founded by Nicole M. Bess, with South African stylist Itumeleng Kwele serving as creative director for this edition, and Talent Africa Group Kenya providing local support.
Bess described the Nairobi stop as part of a longer-term project rather than a one-off. “Our return to Kenya is not a repetition, it is a continuation,” she said. “Nairobi represents a critical node in the global fashion ecosystem we are building,” according to a report on the event.
