Peter Okoye, formerly of the popular music group P-Square, and Seun Kuti, the son of legendary musician Fela Kuti, have recently been in a political feud on social media. The disagreement started when Peter expressed his support for the current administration in Nigeria and Seun called out his stance, pointing out the various shortcomings of the government.

The situation escalated when Seun accused Peter of being a sell-out and not truly understanding the struggles of the common people in Nigeria. In response, Peter accused Seun of being too pessimistic and not doing enough to bring about change.

Meanwhile, there is a post trending online that says a fellow entertainer D’Banj has now taken sides with Peter in the feud. In a series of tweets and Facebook posts, it it said the Koko Master D’Banj expressed his support for Peter and stated that it was important for people to have a positive attitude and not just criticize the government. The alleged statement says he (D’Banj) also pointed out that he believed that both Peter and Seun were trying to bring about change in their own ways.

According to what the post said, D’Bank took time to explain why Peter is more correct in his beliefs than Seun Kuti.

“Peter Okoye was born in the NORTH and he is married to a YORUBA woman who is 8 years older than him without his family’s approval!

“Peter Okoye has spent his ENTIRE LIFE in the NORTH and YORUBA land. Peter Okoye has NOT lived in Igbo land in his entire life.

“This shows that Peter Okoye is a detribalised Nigerian!

“Peter Okoye is supporting whom he believes can fix Nigeria at this time and not because of tribe.

“Seun Kuti has very LOW IQ due to SUBSTANCE ABUSE and should focus more on music than ranting on social media without offering solution to Nigeria’s problems.”

Many fans have been divided by the feud, with some taking sides and others calling for unity among musicians. Some have also criticized D’Banj for taking sides, stating that he should not be involved in politics.

It is not uncommon for musicians to get involved in political matters and express their opinions on current events. However, it is important for them to do so in a respectful manner and not attack each other personally. The feud between Peter and Seun is a reminder that even artists with similar backgrounds and influences can have vastly different political views.

As the alleged state continues to trend a state from a lawyer by the name of Pelumi Olajengbesi surfaced debunking the post making rounds on social media. The statement reads below;

This is to notify the general public that Mr. Oladapo Daniel (D’Banj) never made nor could make any derogatory or disparaging statement against anybody especially within the entertainment industry, nor has he directed the publication of any such material on his behalf. Never!

For the records, D’banj authored no statement against his friend and brother Seun Kuti, and he is as perplexed as the general public by the publication falsely attributed to him.

Dbanj’s view is that in the entertainment industry, they are all one big family and that though political ideologies may differ and could be expressed in heated ways, he holds that the irrefutable truth is that elections will come and go and they all will and must remain one big family.

The general public are thus advised to disregard the mischief of a publication maliciously pushed to drive traffic to gossip blogs and stoke non-existent conflict between Oladapo Daniel (D’Banj) and his well-regarded colleagues in the industry.

Thank you.

The political feud between Peter Okoye and Seun Kuti is a sign of the times in Nigeria, where people are becoming more politically active and vocal about their beliefs. While it is important for people to express their opinions, it is also crucial that they do so in a manner that does not divide the nation further.
