DADA Gallery in Ikoyi, Lagos, opened a cross-generational exhibition titled “Crosscurrents and Affinities” on September 13, bringing together seven Nigerian artists spanning decades of practice. The show runs through October 31.

The exhibition features Nike Davies-Okundaye, Kelechi Chinwendu, Chigozie Obi, Abiodun Olaku, Ayotunde Ojo, Kainebi Osahenye and Kadara Enyeasi, and is curated by Anthony Ogochukwu Agbapuonwu. It is conceptually framed around an Igbo proverb on duality and coexistence, exploring how differing artistic generations and philosophies can occupy the same space.

Standout works include Davies-Okundaye’s pieces drawing on Yoruba visual culture, Olaku’s urban series confronting Lagos’s waste and pollution crisis, and Enyeasi’s “Parasomnia” series examining vulnerability and the subconscious.

The opening followed a private preview on September 12 and adds to a cluster of Lagos gallery shows opening the same week, including “Woven Realms” at Kó Art Space and “Borders and Other Myths” at Gallery Affinity, pointing to a busy September on the city’s contemporary art calendar.
