Amazon Web Services Opens Lagos Office to Support Growing Customer Base in Nigeria

Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon, has opened its first office in Nigeria’s tech hub, Lagos, to support the increasing adoption of its services in the country. The office will aid organizations of all sizes, including startups, enterprises, and public sector agencies, as they transition to the AWS Cloud.

Amrote Abdella, Regional Manager of Sub-Saharan Africa for AWS, said the opening reinforces the company’s commitment to Africa and supports both new and existing customers looking to innovate with AWS products and services. Lagos offers a talented and creative workforce, making it a hub for fast-growing startups and enterprises leading the way in digital innovation.

Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Ibrahim, welcomed Amazon’s decision to establish an office in the country, saying it supports the development of digital platforms, critical for a robust digital economy. The government looks forward to partnering with AWS to accelerate the implementation of its National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy.

This Lagos office marks the second-largest African office for AWS, following its first in Johannesburg, which opened in 2017.”
