One of Lagos youngest businessman and entrepreneur, Akinyera Oluwaseun Afeez on Friday 21, 2022 awarded ₦‎15 million Naira scholarship to 5 students to study at Odua university as a way of giving back to the society and encouraging the less privilege.

According to Mr. Akinyera, the scholarship is not a way to flaunt or show off but rather to provide the recipients with opportunities to get higher education and become useful to their families and the society.

Mr Akinyera, founder of Alh. Ganiyat Adepimpe Akinyera Scholarship and executive chairman of Travel Round The Globe Limited which handles world-class travel services by securing the placement of hundreds of youths into various institutions in the United Kingdom, U.S.A., Canada, Australia, South Africa, Cyprus, Dubai and Schengen, said the gesture donation to the awardees is just the beginning of his philanthropic journey which will continue after each academic calendar (Every four years).

He further encouraged the awardees to take their studies serious and stay away from social vises that could deter them from the reason and purpose why they are in school;

“you are going to meet the good, the bad and the ugly while in school, but I want you all to know where why you are there”.

” Know the child of who you are and face your studies to graduate and become a better person in the society and replicate the goodwill you have been given” he said.

“I hope is to give as many opportunities to young as I can because I myself had experienced their situation while growing up”

Also present to share his wealth of experience was the General Manager of Sabitex Hotel, Mr Hakeem Fasugba who praised Mr Akinyera for taking such a bold step that many millionaires rather would not. He said it has become a thing of necessity and very imperative for all Nigerian youth to upskill and re-skill if they want to compete in a globally changing world. And to the students he said;

” I want you to know that if you fail to make good use of this opportunity and achieve the required result for which this scholarship is hoped for, I will assure you have disappointed not just yourselves but your family and you have wasted a golden opportunity to effect your generation and the nation.

All 5 awardees are expected to resume and commence studies as ASUU has called off the strike which has rock the nation and kept students and lecturers from school for more than 7 months. According to the Mr. Akinyera;

” One year school fees have been paid in full for all of you and all you have to do is report to the school and do the needful”.
