Netflix has confirmed four South African titles for its 2026 slate, headlined by “Love Is Blind: South Africa,” the reality dating franchise’s first African edition and its 13th version worldwide, according to a report detailing the lineup.
The South African slate also includes “Yoh! Bestie,” a follow-up to 2023’s “Yoh! Christmas,” a third season of the thriller “Fatal Seduction,” which drew 5.1 million viewers with its debut season, and “180,” described as a gritty thriller centered on a reformed gangster seeking revenge.
“Love Is Blind: South Africa” follows the format that has powered editions in Brazil, Japan, Sweden, the U.K., Germany, and France since the franchise launched in 2020: singles attempt to form emotional connections without seeing each other, testing whether attraction can be built on conversation alone before couples meet face to face. Its arrival gives South Africa its own entry in the format for the first time.
The report also notes that Netflix’s African investment has become more conservative overall, with shorter lead times and smaller marketing pushes than in previous years, and that a fourth season of “Young, Famous & African,” previously an annual release, is notably absent from the confirmed slate. That more cautious approach mirrors moves elsewhere on the continent, where Netflix has increasingly relied on post-theatrical licensing deals with Nigerian filmmakers rather than commissioning originals from scratch.
Even with the trimmed-down approach, the confirmation of four titles, anchored by a first-of-its-kind reality format for the region, signals that South Africa remains one of Netflix’s priority markets on the continent heading into next year.
