Franchise producer and star Vin Diesel has sparked global speculation after claiming a role has been written for football icon Cristiano Ronaldo in the upcoming Fast and Furious 11 (also known as Fast X: Part 2).
The announcement surfaced via Diesel’s official Instagram account, where he shared a photo with the Al Nassr striker. Diesel stated, “We wrote a role for him,” referring to the “Fast mythology.” Co-star Tyrese Gibson added to the buzz by welcoming Ronaldo to the “family” in a separate social media post.
While the actors’ statements are official, the visual evidence currently circulating has raised significant red flags.
High-quality videos appearing to show Ronaldo on set or in action sequences have been flagged by digital forensics experts as AI-generated deepfakes.
Many fans initially mistook these synthetic videos for official trailers but Joe Tiza who is Nigeria’s tech expert and filmmaker noted that the clips use advanced generative tools to place Ronaldo in cinematic lighting and car-chase environments and “can not be real”. He further said;
Even if Ronaldo was casted in Fast and Furious 11, it is way too early to see those behind the scene videos trending online. Because Ronaldo is busy playing football right now and if it is true that he has been casted to feature in the movie, it has to be when he is on free and maybe on vacation.

Neither Universal Pictures nor Cristiano Ronaldo has issued a formal press release confirming a signed contract.

This potential casting comes as the $7 billion franchise prepares for its final main installment, currently slated for an April 2027 release. Ronaldo’s inclusion would represent one of the largest cross-industry marketing collaborations in film history, leveraging his status as the most-followed individual on social media to bolster the film’s global reach.
