Ahead of the March 11 gubernatorial election , pregnant and nursing mothers across the 57 LCDAS have come together to endorse the candidacy of the rulling All Progressive Congress (APC) Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for re election.
The endorsement came during launch of the phase IV Mother Infant and Child Development (MICHD-2050) Programme organized by the Office of Civic Engagement.
The program, which was officially launched by Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on the 22nd of September, 2021, is a component of our WOMB TO SCHOOL INITIATIVE : “a preparedness preventive rather than curative security measure geared towards making Lagos safer by the projected Year 2050”.
According to the SA , Civic engagement to the governor Princess (Dr) Aderemi Adebowale , the aim of the program are as follows;
To build civically responsible citizens who would not continuously exert pressure on the resources and infrastructure of the state and also:
• Reduce stunting growth while also promoting safe and healthy delivery.
• Partner with traditional birth attendants to reduce their patronage.
• Promote Child spacing and family planning especially among the indigent pregnant women.
• Increase antenatal attendance in our Primary Health Centers
• Reduction of maternal infant rates.
Some of the pregnant women while endorsing the candidacy of Babajide Sanwolu, enjoined voters across the state to re elect Mr Sanwolu as he is the best man for the job.
“There is no doubt about who to vote for, it’s Sanwolu, he is head and shoulders above other candidates.
While reiterating on the need to return Mr Sanwolu, Princess Aderemi stated cautioned on the political implication of this Saturday’s election while enjoining the pregnant women and others to vote mr Babajide Sanwolu
“Distinguish ladies and gentlemen, we cannot gather here talking about the achievement of Mr. Governor, Bbajide Sanwo-Olu without making mention of the political implication in upcoming election. We are here today, we pregnant and nursing mothers to endorse our working governor for another term. There is no gain saying, Sanwo-Olu is the only governor in the whole of Nigeria, if not in west Africa that has this laudable program for pregnant women. He is the only one thinking out of the box in terms of security.”
Present at the event were the Lagos state commissioner for health Prof Akin Abayomi , commissioner for Agriculture, Abisola Olusanya, the PS permanent Health board and a host of others
